Whole Foods Pulls All Raw Kombucha Drinks Off Shelves
Published: Jun 18, 2010
Were it not for the phenomenal 30% growth rate of Millenium Foods raw kombucha, sales estimated at $100 million, and the fact that Millenium inspired both Hain Celestial and Honest Tea (40% owned by Coke) to create me-too products, this story wouldn't be worth posting, unless of course you happen to be a beverage geek or a fermentation specialist.

BevNet reported on Thursday that Whole Foods is pulling all raw kombucha drinks from it's shelves due to concerns over elevated alcohol content.

Stay tuned for more news as it unfolds. Our suspicious brain is full of theories that aren't fit to print but if you happen to see NBN at the beach in Delaware this weekend drinking his favorite Millenium's Trilogy Kombucha, don't be too shy to ask him to walk a straight line, take a breathalyzer or even close his eyes and touch his nose. Now once the sunsets it time for Dogfish Head's IPA 90 and all bets on sobriety are off.
